Festive Fourth of July Cake YUM!

I love to bake cakes for holiday events. They're easy, cute, and best of all you can make them ahead of time. They also travel well and are a cinch to serve. This cake is a snap to make but packs a lot of punch particularly once you cut into it. It can also be easily adapted to other holidays and events by simply changing the colors you use.

Here's what you need:
  • 1 box White Cake Mix
  • 1 Container of White Frosting
  • Food Coloring color of your choice - pick 2
  • Bundt Cake Pan
  • Assorted Sprinkles
  • Pre-colored Frosting (optional) I use pre-colored frosting because it gives you the best True Red. You can just use food coloring to color the white frosting instead. Details below*

Here's what you do:
  •  Prepare cake according to package directions.
  •  Divide batter in half. Leave half in your original bowl.

  • Divide the other half between two bowls.
  •  Add food coloring and mix well.
  • Pour White batter in pan, Reserving about 1/2 cup.

  • Spoon first color batter over white batter in pan.
  • DON'T SPREAD!

  • Add your second colored frosting on top of that layer.
  •  Place your reserved 1/2 cup of white batter on top as the final layer.
  •  DON'T SPREAD.
  •  Bake according to package directions.
  • Allow cake to cool about 10-15 minutes and then remove from pan.
  • Allow cake to completely cool before frosting it.
  • Place frosting in a microwave safe bowl. If you are coloring your own frosting divide into three different bowls. Keep 1 white, color the other 2 with the colors you used for the cake batter. Microwave 5-10 seconds and stir. Use a spoon to drizzle frosting on top one color at a time.
  • If using pre-colored frosting just place in a microwave safe bowl and heat for 5-10 seconds. Then drizzle.
  • Drizzle the warm frosting back and forth, one color at a time

  • Add sprinkles and any additional garnishes.

What a cute slice!
This cake would also be cute at World Cup parties! USA!!!
